MMPDS stands for: “Metallic Materials Properties Development and Standardization”.
The MMPDS organization has a Secretariat, a Government Steering Group (GSG) and an Industry Steering Group (ISG) and sub-component oriented steering groups working through a general coordinating committee to lead working groups. Battelle has continued to act as secretariat since 1954 and acts as an impartial data controller. The GSG is made up of the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and other government agencies that help fund MMPDS.
The Battelle Memorial Institute (known by its short form Battelle) is a non-profit US contract research institute in Columbus, Ohio. Battelle acts as the impartial data reviewer and editor of the MMPDS Handbook.
